The Best Fashion Blogs

Just a few years ago if you wanted to get advice, tips and information about the latest trends to hit the high street you would have a look in a fashion magazine. Nowadays it’s much easier to get great tips with the explosion of fashion bloggers. You can now do a quick search in Google and find thousands or articles about fashion. The only problem is there are many great blogs out there, but there are also plenty of not so good ones so it can be difficult to find the ones you want. Flip Flop and Away has been doing research into the best blogs to give you a list of the places you should visit if you are looking for fashion tips.

Here is our list of the best blogs

http://stylebubble.typepad.com/

Style Bubble is written by Susie Bubble a self confessed outcast with a love of fashion. Any good fashion blog needs great imagery and this one really does.

http://www.whatkatiewore.com/

The premise of this blog is that Katie was going to try to wear something different every day and her boyfriend Joe was going to blog about it. What’s great about this blog is that it’s written in a really simple straight forward way with a bit of a cheeky style. Katie mixes vintage with high street clothing and the outfits she wears are achievable. Add to that she’s gorgeous and you’ve got yourself a great blog.

http://fashionista.com/author/lchernikoff/

Fashionista is a great resource for fashion and Leah Chernikoff is my favourite blogger in the site. She mainly focuses on famous people and the fashion industry, and if she doesn’t write about it, it’s not worth knowing.

http://www.frugal-fashionistas.com/

It’s a “steal-their-style” type of site and shows how you can dress like a celebrity but don’t have to pay the prices. All the items that they show are less than $100 so it’s a great place to get tips for beautiful and affordable clothing.

http://www.omiru.com/

What I really like about this blog is it gives tips on how to wear the fashion, if you are like me you might know what look you like but achieving it isn’t always that simple. They also cater for a wide range of people.

http://gofugyourself.com/

If you want a fashion site that makes you laugh out loud this is the one you want. They review the fashion of the rich and famous and decide whether it’s fab or fugly. If you are not sure what fugly means it’s a word beginning with f and
ugly, I’m sure you can work out what word I mean.

http://www.froufrouu.com/

This is another site with beautiful photography; I can look at it just for the pictures. However this is more to the blog than just the images. The fashion that is featured is achievable and is always lets you know where you can get the fashion, which surprisingly not all sites do.

http://troprouge.blogspot.com/

Trop Rouge is written by New York model Christina Caradona, she’s got a really cute style and the site features some nice little snippets of information about the clothing featured.

Brazil Carnival 2011

Carnatal in Natal, largest off-season Carnival...

Image via Wikipedia

It’s that time of year again where all of Brazil have at least 4 days off work for some full time partying. The carnival starts on the Saturday before Shrove Tuesday and finishes on the Tuesday. Though in true Brazilian style the pre-carnival parties start a week before the event.

Most people associate the carnival with Rio but though that is the one that is written about the most it’s a party for the whole of the country. From tiny villages with 10’s of people to the biggest cities in Brazil everyone gets involved with the party.

Brazil is an amazing place to be during carnival and it’s one of those places that you have to go to once in your lifetime. If you do go expect to dance and drink all day and night long.

Rider flip flops

Ipanema Surf

Rider flip flops are another brand of flip flops from Brazil, and made by Grendene the same company that makes Grendha flip flops. Unlike Grendha the flip flops are for men and women. They are targeted at surfers as have larger straps so good for running in. The brand was originally created just for men but they started creating styles for women and children. As well as surfing Rider flip flops are targeted at extreme sports and for active people.

Like with the majority of Brazilian flip flops they are created for everyday use including using them on the beach, therefore you get a great mix of comfort, durability and styling.

Next year Rider will be sponsoring Surf UK so if you haven’t heard of them yet you are going to be hearing a lot more from Rider over the next year.

Gladiator Sandals

At Flip Flop and Away we love all things flip flop and related and that includes Gladiator sandals. If you don’t know what Gladiator sandals are they the sandals that have straps over your feet as well as round the ankles, they are called Gladiator sandals as they are a similar style to the shoes worn by Gladiators in Rome (but much prettier). They generally have metal studs or crystals added to them and are good for going out in.

They started to become popular a few years ago when fashion icons such as Kate Moss started wearing them and they have been going from strength to strength since then.

Melissa

Melissa shoes are also created by Grendene and are the most expensive shoes that they create. Melissa started of with relatively simple rubber shoes but have become a fashion phenomenon. This is due to some of the top designers in the world such as Vivienne Westwood, creating ranges of Melissa flip flops.

This has turned the brand into an international brand and this has been helped by celebrities such as Pamela Anderson, Katy Perry and Katy Holmes wearing them.

If that wasn’t enough to promote the brand, they also responsibly produced so you can get yourself a great looking pair of designer shoes that don’t have a negative effect on the environment. They are likely to get even bigger, let’s hoping they bring out a cheaper range.
